Welcome to Book Quote Saver (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our iOS application, Book Quote Saver.

2. Information We Collect

User-Provided Content: When you use your camera to photograph book pages, our app extracts quotes using text recognition. This data is stored locally on your device.
Analytics and Crash Reports: We automatically collect anonymous usage and diagnostic data through Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. We do not collect personally identifiable information through these tools.
iCloud Storage (Optional): If you enable synchronization via Apple iCloud, extracted quotes and related data are stored in your personal iCloud account.

3. How We Use Information

We utilize collected data solely to:

Provide and enhance app functionality, including text extraction accuracy.
Diagnose and address crashes and technical issues.
Deliver relevant push notifications.
Communicate with you via transactional or promotional emails (if you’ve explicitly opted-in).

4. Information Sharing & Disclosure

Firebase (Google LLC): Analytics and crash data are shared with Firebase. No personal identifiers are shared or linked to this data.
Apple iCloud: If enabled, your quotes are synchronized to Apple’s iCloud service, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties beyond the stated purposes.

5. Data Retention

Local & iCloud Data: Stored until manually deleted by you via device settings or the app.
Analytics Data: Stored per Firebase’s default retention policy.

6. Your Choices & Rights

Local Data Management: You can delete quotes directly within the app or through your device’s settings.
Notifications: Disable push notifications in your device’s settings.
Email Communications: You may unsubscribe from promotional emails via the unsubscribe link provided in each email.

7. GDPR (European Users)

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data under the GDPR:

Contractual necessity: Data required to provide app functionality.
Legitimate interest: Anonymous analytics for improving app quality.

You have rights including accessing, rectifying, erasing, objecting to processing, and data portability. You may lodge complaints with the supervisory authority in your jurisdiction. In Poland, this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes UODO): uodo.gov.pl.

8. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app is intended for a general audience. If we discover personal information from a child under 13 has been inadvertently collected, we will immediately delete it.

9. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

California residents have rights to access and delete personal data collected by us. We do not sell or share your personal information under CCPA definitions. California users may contact privacy@asthc.com for any requests or inquiries.

10. International Data Transfers

Analytics and crash data collected by Firebase may be processed outside the EU/EEA. Firebase complies with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, employing standard contractual clauses to ensure data protection.

11. Security Measures

We rely on Apple’s encryption technologies to protect data stored on your device and synchronized with iCloud. Communication with Firebase services and our SMTP email server occurs securely over Transport Layer Security (TLS).

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or push notification, and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
